Missions
CHRIST'S GREAT COMMISSION
"
What Are Missions?
Missions are any endeavor outside our local congregation to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ by proclaiming the gospel of Christ.
The Missions ministry team at Faith is an exciting area of ministry. Currently a portion of every week's offering goes to support ministries in our local area, our nearby communities, across the state and around the world. This is in keeping with Jesus' words found in Acts 1:8 - ...you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. While there are many needs in the world, Jesus tells us we can start in our own town and go out from there. This is our focus for the missions ministry at Faith.
Who Do We Support?
The following is a listing of Missions work we currently support. Links have been provided so that you may read more about a particular Mission.
Community Day of Service:
Annually the entire Body of Faith gets involved in local community projects to witness to our neighbors and show the lservant love of Christ. Almost a hundred adults and children get involved by planting trees at a local nature preserve, picking up trash on our "Adopted Roadway", construction with Habitat for Humanity, and fix-up for home-bound seniors.

Lake Aurora Christian Retreat:
Several times a year, groups from Faith attend camps and retreats at Lake Aurora Christian Retreat in Lake Wales, Florida. From scholarship supported youth camps, to Father/Son and Mother/Daughter retreats, to annual Men's weekends, to yearly Women's outings, Lake Aurora is a major area of our focus. In addition to financial and prayer support, our time at Lake Aurora is one of spiritual discovery and renewal with the purpose of building closer relationships with our family and friends and with God.
Haitian Children's Home: http://www.haitianchildrenshome.org/

As full time staff missionaries, Danny and Leann Pye direct this outreach orphange for 22(currently) children near Jacmel, Haiti. Their mission is to provide a safe home environment for orphaned and abandoned Haitian children where they can experience the love of Christ, equipping them with the spiritual foundation and educational tools they need to lead fulfilled lives.
There are still a few Children who need a sponsor. For $32 a month you will be able to provide a child with food, school supplies, housing and daily living expenses. If you are interested please email and include 'Haiti' in the subject line or you may click the link below to find out more about this important program.
Mission Trips:
Each year (normally in February and July) Faith organizes short term mission trips to Haiti and/or other locations of need. The trip projects vary based on the skills and desires of the team members and range from construction, to medical clinics, to Vacation Bible Studies, to street evangelism. A major highlight is spending time with the staff and children of the Haitian Children's Home. Many of the team members are also financial sponsors for the children. This time spent together strengthens the bonds to mean more than just writing a check. Sponsors and children alike strengthen their personal realtionship with each other and with God.
If you are interested in going on our next mission trip February 16th-23rd, 2008; please call Dan Ozley at 907-4272. A brief informational and organizational meeting will be held on December 9th, after the 2nd Service; in the library.
