Preschool Ages 2-5
We are blessed to have the opportunity to care for your children!
What to Expect
Our caregivers teach the children through songs and play that Jesus loves them and that they are wonderfully made. During class, children will be read a Bible story, create a craft related to the story, color, and participate in other activities, such as singing songs.
Your Child's Health
- To ensure the health of children and volunteers, we ask that sick children do not attend, if the following exist: fever (over 99.5 degrees), vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours, any symptom of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox or whooping cough, common cold - from onset through one week, sore throat, croup, any unexplained rash, any skin infection - boils, ringworm or impetigo, untreated pink eye or other eye infection, any communicable disease, lice, including the presence of eggs or nits. These are the guidelines that we follow and we expect that a child or volunteer be free of fever for 24 hours attending. Additionally, if your child should become ill or start to run a fever during the church service, you will be called upon to come to their classroom and pick your child up. Volunteers are not permitted to administer any type of medication to children in their care.
- During class, children are usually provided with a snack and drink. Before eating we are careful to clean the table, as well as, each child's hands. If your child has any allergies, dietary restrictions or sensitive skin, please let the volunteer know upon check-in.
When you arrive
- The ToddlerTails class is for children ages 2-3 ½. The Critterland class is for children ages 3 ½ - 5. In order to provide the safest possible environment, children older than these are not permitted in the ToddlerTails or Critterland classrooms.
- Please label all diaper bags, bottles, and other articles you leave for the child.
- When you arrive, your child will be received by a volunteer at the door of the classroom and a security badge with a number will be provided to you when you sign the child in. . When signing in, you must provide some basic information, including where you will be while they are in class (ie service, class, etc).. If your child needs you during service, you will see your security badge number displayed on the screens during service. Please come to your child’s classroom immediately. If you are in a class, a volunteer will come get you.
- When you pick up your child, you must return the security badge. For safety reason, only adults are permitted to pick up the children. Please remember to also take with you the child’s activity bag and any personal articles you left in the classroom.
- We request that children be picked up immediately following the service. Even a well adjusted child can become anxious or fearful if he or she is left after the other children have gone home.

What to bring
Please make sure your child’s diaper bag has the following items:
- Two to three disposable diapers if they are not potty trained.
- A complete change of clothes.
- Any item your child may need for security reasons.
- A bottle of milk, juice, or water.
Please label all personal items with your child’s first and last name to help us keep track of their personal belongings.
Saying good-bye
After you have checked your child into their class, wave a quick good-bye and leave. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long and separation will become easier over time. Our teachers will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will be back soon. If your child cries for an extended period of 15 minutes, we will page you.
Checking on your child
Feel free to check on your child any time during the service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.
Security
New security procedures went into affect as of September 23,2007. All of our ToddlerTail and Critterland volunteers are fully screened and background checked. Parents are given a numbered security badge for each child they check in. No one will be allowed to pick a child without the parent security badge.
