Nursery
What to Expect
Our caregivers demonstrate that Jesus loves them by the care in which they give each child.
Your Child's Health
- To ensure the health of children and volunteers, we ask that sick children do not attend, if the following exist: fever (over 99.5 degrees), vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours, any symptom of childhood diseases such as scarlet fever, German measles, mumps, chicken pox or whooping cough, common cold - from onset through one week, sore throat, croup, any unexplained rash, any skin infection - boils, ringworm or impetigo, untreated pink eye or other eye infection, any communicable disease, lice, including the presence of eggs or nits. These are the guidelines that we follow and we expect that a child or volunteer be free of fever for 24 hours attending. Additionally, if your child should become ill or start to run a fever during the church service, you will be called upon to come to their classroom and pick your child up. Volunteers are not permitted to administer any type of medication to children in their care.
- During class, children are usually provided with a snack. If your child has any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let the volunteer know upon check-in.
When you arrive
- The Nursery is for children ages birth to 2. In order to provide the safest possible environment, children older than these are not permitted in the Nursery.
- Please label all diaper bags, bottles, and other articles you leave for the child.
- When you arrive, your child will be received by a volunteer at the door of the Nursery and a pager will be provided to you when you sign the child in. If your child needs you during service, you will be paged. Please come to the Nursery immediately.
- When you pick up your child, you must return the pager. For safety reason, only adults are permitted to pick up the children. Please remember to also take with you any personal articles you left in the nursery.
- We request that children be picked up immediately following the service.
What to bring
Please make sure your child's diaper bag has the following items:
- Two to three disposable diapers.
- A complete change of clothes.
- Any item your child may need for security reasons.
- A bottle of milk, juice, or water.
Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name to help us keep track of their personal belongings.
Saying good-bye
After you have checked your child into the Nursery, wave a quick good-bye and leave. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long and separation will become easier over time. Our teachers will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will be back soon. If your child cries for an extended period of 15 minutes, we will page you.
Checking on your child
Feel free to check on your child any time during the service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.
Security
New security procedures went into affect as of September 23,2007. All of our Nursery volunteers are fully screened and background checked. Parents are given a pager they check in their child. No one will be allowed to pick a child without the return of the pager
